About Gableworks

What is Gableworks?

A modular building system by Axis Gear Works where every floor and the roof lift off in one piece, so you can reach miniatures on every level. It’s built on the OpenLOCK grid and sized for 28–32 mm miniatures.

Does it work with my existing OpenLOCK terrain?

Yes. Every port sits on the standard 12.7 mm OpenLOCK grid and uses the standard OpenLOCK clip, so Gableworks walls and floors mix with other OpenLOCK tiles.

Is Gableworks made by Printable Scenery?

No. Gableworks is an independent, OpenLOCK Compatible design by Axis Gear Works. OpenLOCK is created by Printable Scenery and used under a license granted to Axis Gear Works LLC. That license is not an endorsement by Printable Scenery.

Where do I download the files?

On Creality Cloud. The catalog links every building and library.

Printing

Do I need supports?

Yes, to prevent sag: tree (slim) supports on the build plate only, under window and door heads and other overhangs. The print guide has the settings. Everything is tuned on a 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.2 mm layers.

Do I need a multi-color printer?

No. Each color is a separate part, pre-assigned to filament slots for multi-color printers. The colors are suggestions: on a single-color printer, print in one color or swap filament between parts. Paint and dry-brush if you like.

Which clip should I use?

Any OpenLOCK clip works. Complete buildings like the Townhouse include plates of the official OpenLOCK v5.4 clip by Printable Scenery. The parts libraries don’t include clips: get them from Printable Scenery, including springy, magnetic, grip and PassThru clips.

Speed build or component build?

Speed build prints large one-piece sections: fewer parts, fewer clips, faster assembly. Component build prints single tiles and wall bays you can rearrange into your own layouts.

How do the doors work?

Each door hangs on a 44.5 mm piece of 1.75 mm filament pushed down through the wall top and the door; the story above holds it in. Every doorway has a hinge hole at both jambs, so you choose the hinge side. If a pin binds, turn a 2.2 mm drill bit through by hand.

How many clips do I need?

The Townhouse needs 54 at minimum and 166 to fill every port. The clip file includes 60- and 120-clip plates.

Licensing

Can I print it for myself, friends or my gaming group?

Yes. Personal printing and gifting are free under the Standard License on the listing. Please don’t remix, re-upload or share the files; send friends to the listing instead.

Can I sell prints?

Yes, with a Gableworks commercial license. Request one here. It covers the OpenLOCK ports and clips in Gableworks parts too: show the OpenLOCK Compatible logo and link to Axis Gear Works’ OpenLOCK license on your listings.

Can I sell or share the files?

No. Files are distributed only through the official listings. Commercial licenses cover physical prints, never the files.

I run a game store. Can I use Gableworks on our tables?

Yes, free: in-store tables, events, clubs and tournaments. Selling the prints needs a license.

Can I feature it in videos, streams or photos?

Yes, free. A credit and link back are appreciated.

Can I post a building I made from Gableworks parts?

Please do. Send photos and your parts list on the Community page; we feature favorites, credited to you. Please don’t post the files themselves anywhere: remixes and re-uploads aren’t allowed.

Can I design my own parts that work with Gableworks?

Yes. Gableworks follows the OpenLOCK grid, so design against Printable Scenery’s OpenLOCK templates. To sell those designs you need Printable Scenery’s free OpenLOCK commercial license.

Support

Something doesn’t fit. What do I do?

Check the print guide first; elephant-foot compensation and clip tolerance are the usual culprits. Then comment on the listing with your printer, filament and a photo.

How are updates handled?

Fixes are made in place on the listing with a changelog. Big additions come as new linked expansion listings.
